SAFF is seeking interns for the 2018 art festival


More than 260 award-winning artists from around the country and some 25,000 patrons will converge on Sausalito's beautiful waterfront this Labor Day Weekend for the annual Sausalito Art Festival. Now in it's 66th year, the Sausalito Art Festival is one of the country's premiere art events that attracts patrons because of its world class art, celebrated entertainment lineup, special exhibitions, and a cornucopia of gourmet food, wine, beer, and specialty beverages. The festival runs Friday September 1 - Monday September 3.
Hours of the festival are Saturday & Sunday 10a.m.-7p.m. and Monday, 10a.m.-5p.m.


The Internship experience

  • Offers practitioners the chance to provide expertise relative to theory and practice obtained in the classroom setting
  • Offers the opportunity to improve in-service training for permanent employees;
  • Allows SAFF an opportunity to survey and evaluate prospective employees;
  • Provides opportunities to establish cooperative relationships which extend beyond the Internship program.

SAFF's team approach to Special Event Management mandates that all interns possess a keen sense of self-motivation, to work positively with a variety of personality types and leadership styles, the ability to be flexible and embrace change. Interns should possess and demonstrate a high standard of integrity and professionalism.
The internship is full-time with an opportunity for a stipend. Internships are during the festival season, usually starting the first part of June.
Interns must also be available the weekend of the Art Festival (September 1, 2, 3). 


graphic design

Assist with internal graphic design and information technology, including:
Create look and feel of festival including, but not limited to: banners, signage, badges, etc.
Create promotional material including, but not limited to: advertisements, posters, flyers, etc.
Assist in maintaining festival website
Work in partnership with marketing intern
Assisting with special projects

*Applicant must be knowledgeable with Adobe Creative Suite CS4 and proficient with Mac OS.

 


MARKETING & SOCIAL MEDIA

Assist the Executive Director with marketing and public relations, including:
Scheduling radio and television interviews
Coordinating media for the festivals
Writing Press Releases
Generating Press Kits
Creating Media Alerts and email blasts
Assisting with online marketing
Helping identify new marketing opportunities
Writing and posting to organizations current Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Finding users to follow/friend/like our business
Tracking the growth and the impact of social media on our business
Replying to comments, messages, etc.
Report findings to the team
Ability to create and upload Twitter & YouTube backgrounds, and minor video editing skills are a plus.
Assisting with special projects

Assist the Production Manager and Event Coordinator with festival logistics and programming, including:
Site Planning
Public Safety
Environmental Issues - 'greening' our event
Select research projects; may include cost analysis for tools and/or equipment, artist's venue histories, etc.
Assist in preparing and managing contracts
Contract negotiation
Visual Arts management
Creation of on-site informational documents/manuals
Volunteer coordination
Assist with coordination of various program committees


Sponsorship Development

Assist Executive Director with sponsor relations and solicitation, including:
Seek new funding opportunities
Writing sponsor proposals
Assist with sponsor renewals
Write and manage sponsor contracts
Coordinate annual sponsor breakfast/lunch
Creation of sponsorship fulfillment reports
Coordinating sponsorship credentials
Assisting with special projects


Volunteer Coordinator assistant

Assist the Volunteer Coordinator with planning and coordinating volunteer assignments. This includes scheduling volunteers, planning and assisting with special projects, assisting in management a large volunteer staff of 1,800 individuals, along with maintaining the volunteer database.
Duties include:
Proecssing volunteer applications and updating volunteer records
Keeping volunteer database (electronic) up-to-date and accurate
Assisting with organization of regular volunteer trainings and orientations
Supervising volunteers on-site
Assisting with special projects such as special event planning
Corresponding with volunteers and prospective volunteers, mainly through email but occasionally via phone or text messaging
Assist with scheduling volunteers utilizing a variety of methods, including online shift management
Assist with creating content for weekly and monthly newsletters for volunteers
A variety of other regular clerical & organizational tasks that are integral to the success of a volunteer management program
Opporutnities exsist for qualified candidates to assist with creating online training materials.
